1. Select the right location for soil stack: In case you have one bathroom only in the house, then this will be within the wall which is directly behind it. However if you have two toilets, the right place for stack is just the halfway between them.
2. Build stack from ABS plastic pipe which is of 4-inch: You need to run through your house in vertical direction into crawl space or basement and then route horizontally to sewer line. This can either be hung from the floor joists or dig the channel for it. There is a line that connects stack with the sewer and this has to be in the downward slope of at least 1/4 inch for each foot.
3. Install a fitting: This should be installed where stacks change their direction from the vertical to the horizontal. After this, tie line within sewer by having appropriate cut inside sewer pipe with the help of a hacksaw and finally gluing with ABS cement in sanitary tee.
4. Fit closet flanges for both the toilets: This is sawing a hole in subfloor that has reciprocating saw by inserting flange and then twisting it to the floor. Use 3-inch flange when the distance between main stack and toilet is not more than 6 feet or else you can use a 4-inch flange.
5. Run ABS pipe from flange to main stack: This can be done with the help of a pipe that has same diameter like flange opening. Try to stick one end of the pipe with flanges by using 90-degree fitting known as a closet bend. You need to maintain downward inclination of 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch for each foot and then cut into waste stack where other end interconnects and attach with ABS cement.
6. Fasten a coupling at the top of waste stack: This need to extend a foot just above waste connection for decreasing the diameter from 4 to 2 inches. You may run 2-inch ABS from coupling through roof for venting the stack. Thus, this vent pipe will have to extend by 1 foot just above roof area. Make sure the opening of the roof has been sealed properly with vent flashing installation around exposed parts of vent pipe.
